Pure Word Ministries began in February 1987 at Calvary Chapel Boise in Idaho out of an answer to prayer and a desire to have a meeting focused on Jesus Christ and to acknowledge His ability to set individuals free from bondage to sin and fear. Originally called New Wine Ministries, its focus was limited to alcohol and narcotics. As the ministry grew, our vision and scope grew also, and the name was changed to Pure Word Ministries in 1993.

God's Word, the Bible, tells us that it is sufficient for all areas of life and that it will equip us thoroughly for all areas of ministry (2 Timothy 3:16-17).

Because of this, we now offer assistance for not only alcohol and drug issues, but also for other addictive behaviors as well. Jesus came to set people free (John 8:36), and the focus of this ministry is to see the people set free from the issues that hold them in bondage to sin (Romans 8:37, 2Corinthians 10:4-5).

The meeting format consists of sharing from a Christ-centered perspective. We use a teaching model which offers an effective approach in keeping the group focused on the issues at hand and the supremacy of Jesus Christ in our lives (2 Corinthians 3:5).
