Intercessory Prayer

"Then you shall call, and the LORD will answer; You shall cry, and He will say, Here I am" (Isaiah 58:9).

Have you ever taken the time and really thought about the awesome privilege we have to commune with Almighty God on a daily basis; the very same God that created everything to and for His glory? More than the blessings that prayer holds for believers, prayer is also an act of humble worship before Him. E.M Bounds said, "Praying men [women] are the safety of the Church from the materialism that is affecting all its plans and polity, and which is hardening it's life-blood."

We, the Church, are powerless without prayer because prayer is the work and when we cease to pray, we are in essence telling the Lord that the good work He has begun in us is finished. Can you think of a time in our lives that we do not need prayer? Prayer is the very foundation that enables us to go from one measure of faith to another and from one reflection of His glory to another. It helps us in our weaknesses and strengthens us for the battle. If that is not awesome enough, He is also so gracious that He even gives us help when we do not know how we should pray or what we should pray.

"Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God" (Romans 8:26-27).

"Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us" (Romans 8:34).

"Therefore He is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them" (Hebrews 7:25).

Come, believe and agree with us for a loved one, a sick one, an untoward one or His blessings for one. This is where we get to bare our soul to the Lord, seek His guidance, direction, ask that His will to be done in us, and stand in the gap for a myriad of others. Intercessory Prayer is about a real God, visiting the lives of real people for a real purpose - His Purpose!

If you have a heart to intercede in prayer before the Throne of God, please join us on Sunday mornings at 9:00am (in the Gameroom) & 10:45am (in the Koinonia Kafé).
